How much window seal do you need?
Measure each seal run that needs replacement along the gasket line. Example: a run 0.8 m wide and 1.2 m high = 2 × (0.8 + 1.2) = 4 m. Two identical runs total 8 m. Actual runs may differ, so measure each one separately.

A protective outer layer
A polyethylene liner protects the core against weather and UV exposure. Q-Lon is a composite seal rather than a strip made from one rubber material.

Inside Q-Lon
QL 9646 combines a resilient polyurethane foam core (PU), a protective polyethylene skin (PE) and a polypropylene carrier (PP). The foam makes the sealing contact, the skin protects it, and the carrier secures the profile in the window groove.

Compression recovery. EN 12365-4, Class 6; the manufacturer reports recovery up to 90%.
UV testing. ISO 4892-3, Cycle 1; more than 3,000 hours. Laboratory test hours are not years of service.
Material thermal conductivity. The Schlegel 2026 catalogue lists 0.041 W/(m·K) for Q-Lon. This is not the U-value of the whole window.

Cold, sunlight, moisture and repeated opening place different demands on a seal. Schlegel publishes recovery, ageing and weathering test data. Fitting matters too: the seal must suit the groove and the sash must close correctly. A new sash seal cannot repair a leaking installation joint between the frame and wall.
Test evidence and service life
The ift Rosenheim certificate covers the listed Q-Lon profile families under EN 12365. Schlegel’s Q-Lon information states a 10-year guarantee and describes examples of longer use. This does not promise a fixed lifespan for every installation: fit, use and maintenance matter. Product-specific warranty terms are clarified when ordering.
Q-Lon and your existing rubber seal
Compare the construction and condition, not just the colour. EPDM and TPE performance varies by formulation and profile; a blanket three-year lifespan for rubber seals is not justified. Cracks, stiffness and permanent flattening warrant inspection. Even a good new material cannot replace adjustment of a misaligned sash.

Will QL 9646 fit my uPVC window?
QL 9646 is a PVC window profile with a manufacturer working gap of 3.5-5.5 mm, groove width of 3.6 mm and groove depth of 5.1 mm. We work with all types of uPVC windows; before ordering, we check a photo or sample of the old seal to confirm whether this profile fits your window.
How much seal do I need?
Count the total length of the sealing circuits to be replaced, not just the outside dimensions of the window. A window can have several different circuits. If unsure, send a photo and approximate window measurements.
Can I buy only the material?
Yes. Seal material costs €3.99/m. Call or email to buy; installation is optional.
When does the 50% discount apply?
It applies to seal material installed by AknaOnu as part of your booked work. Labour is not reduced by 50%. Material and labour are shown separately in the quotation.
